Getting Mobile

Watch out world, Miss S is on the move.  She rolled over from her back to her front today!  I knew it was coming...she's been getting about half way over for a little while and yesterday she almost made it.  The sad part is that we missed the official first roll.  Daddy laid her on her back to change her diaper while I was making dinner.  He went to grab a diaper and turned back to see her on her belly!  Thankfully, she did it a few more times so we could celebrate with her as she picked her cute head up after the roll.  It's so fun to watch her grow even though I know this is just the start of having to keep up with her!

Beautiful, Part 2

Here are the last of the pics that our friend took at the wedding.  She is a talented photographer and in my opinion, she had good material to work with!  The third picture is Miss S and our friend's daughter.  I think it is so sweet!

Wedding Pics

Here are some pictures from the wedding the boys were in last weekend.  Mr. Newton was a ring bearer and Mr. Mister carried a sign that said here comes the bride.  It was an outdoor country themed wedding, thus the rustic looking sign.  Look carefully at the third picture and you can see the misters coming up the aisle.

Being a Daddy

Here is a cute conversation the boys had the other day at lunch:
Mr. Mister: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Mr. Newton: "Um, Daddy!"  (not sure he really knew what he was answering, but it worked).
Mr. Mister: "Being a Daddy is hard work! You have to change diapers, feed your children, carry them, and let them in your office sometimes when they want to play."

Haircut Woes

This has nothing to do with the rest of the blog post, but I love this picture.
Mr. Newton found these sunglasses when were at Target. He put them on, then said look, Mom! Then started walking away, saying home. Like he was ready to take them home.
He is so funny!

Onto the haircut woes. Mr. Newton is terrified of getting his haircut. His hair grows so fast and so long that he has already had several haircuts, all of which have been at home with our clippers. We've had to hold him down every time while he screams until we are done. That's why he usually has a mullet and really long hair hanging over his ears - I can never get motivated to endure the haircutting process. Thankfully, his hair looks really cute and kind of rockstar-like when it is long. But there comes a point when a boy needs a haircut.

So I finally decided to take him to one of those fun kid friendly places. With his ring bearer job quickly approaching, I wanted his hair to look good and not patchy like it is when I cut it because I have to hurry up and get as much cut as I can while Daddy holds him down!

I was hopeful that the cool airplane seat, the cartoons on t.v., the lollipop and the balloon might distract him enough to make it fun, or at least not miserable.

It worked at first.
Because she was just spraying his hair with water.

But as soon as she reached for the scissors and started cutting, he started crying. He kept saying ouch and all done. It was so sad. But I kept thinking (or hoping) that she has probably seen worse.

In the end, he looked handsome and was happy to have his balloon and lollipop.
He said afterward that it didn't hurt and wasn't scary, but if I ask him if he wants another haircut the answer is a very quick NO!

Preschool Graduation

Mr. Mister graduated from preschool a couple weeks ago!  They had a nice program where they sang some songs and then gave each student a flower and a diploma.  When they called Mr. Mister's name, he ran and jumped into his teacher's arms for a big bear hug!

I'm so proud of my little guy.  He did really well in school this year and made a lot of new friends. He was especially sad to say goodbye to his new BFF in the picture below.  Mr. Newton thinks he is best friends with them, too!

I am glad to have the freedom of summer without having to be somewhere, but I was sad for the year to end  because I had a lot of fun becoming friends with the other moms.  Unfortunately, because the kids in this school come from a few different school districts, Mr. Mister won't be going on to school with most of his friends.

Also, because he turns 5 at the end of the summer, we had to decide between starting kindergarten this year when he would be almost a whole year younger than the other kids and waiting til he turns 6.  We decided to wait.  He will do a Kindergarten Readiness class for three days a week this coming year, which is more intense than preschool but not quite kindergarten.  We feel really good about the decision and think it is the best fit for him.

All this talk about Kindergarten makes me realize how fast he is growing up!  It also reminds me that in my post partum craziness after Mr. Mister was born, I cried because I thought he'd be going to college soon. Haha. Good thing we're not even to Kindergarten yet!

Beautiful

They boys were in a wedding this weekend.
It was outdoors and so beautiful.
The misters looked very handsome and did a great job.
Their sister was beautiful too and slept wonderfully through the ceremony.

I will have more pictures to post later but these are just a couple that a friend took.
They make me happy.

Boys and a Box

With all of the toys, websites, and apps available to kids, it's refreshing to see that a box can still be such a great source of entertainment!
